Kiana Meshkat is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Human Biology, NUTRIM School of Nutrition and Translational Research in Metabolism, at Maastricht University Medical Centre+. Supervised by Ruth Meex and Ellen Blaak, Kiana’s research is primarily focused on gaining insights into the metabolic characteristics of individuals who exhibit variations in muscle, liver, and adipose tissue insulin resistance.

Before beginning her Ph.D. journey, Kiana received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Cell and Molecular Biology at Yazd and Isfahan Universities. Besides working in the laboratory, she previously worked in the hospital surgery room, where she was involved in the collection of umbilical cord blood and placenta stem cells.
