Colin van Kalkeren is employed as a PhD-candidate at the Department of Human Biology at Maastricht University. His research focuses on improving gut and brain health and preventing and treating obesity and obesity-related metabolic disorders including insulin resistance and NAFLD by an in vivo clinical trial using specific dietary components. Colin received his BSc in medicine in 2017 and his M.D. in 2020, after which he worked at the Intensive Care Unit for a year before starting his PhD-project.
